Class 47 at Dorchester

Class 47 opens up after passing through Dorchester South with a Summer holiday train from Weymouth to the Midland region. A class 33 waits patiently with the Nuclear Flask from Winfrith. At Weymouth Station on Saturdays in the Summer months, we would spend all morning receiving holiday trains from all over the country. We would, after the passengers disembarked, shunt the trains quickly to the sidings were they would be cleaned and watered. Then spend all afternoon and evening sending the homeward bound holidaymakers away. They were long hard days.
